Tree Planting

Why Plant Trees?

Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity. Forests provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb airborne pollutants from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines. Planting trees is one of the most effective methods to capture atmospheric carbon and combat catastrophic climate change.

Our Partners

South Sound Green Party has partnered with the Olympia Vangardeners. The Vangardeners are a guerrilla gardening and food sovereignty collective based out of Olympia, Washington. They believe in ecological direct action and that food should be free. They have agreed to supply native chestnut trees to our planting efforts.

Our Goal

In 2021, South Sound Green Party has committed to plant 365 trees in 365 days, one tree for every day. Just this years efforts have the potential sequester nearly 400 tons of CO2 by 2060.

Get Involved

You don't have to be a member of South Sound Green Party or the Olympia Vangardeners to get involved. We are always looking for volunteers, planting supplies, and potential planting locations. If you'd like to get involved please use our contact form and select "Tree Planting."
